I would like to make a right-angle bookend (L shape) out of two pieces of 3mm Acrylic sheet. Which glue will give the strongest bond?

You should achieve good results for this using Selleys All Fix Multi Grip Multi Grip is a clear solvent based general purpose glue and bonds very well to Acrylics & Perspex, PVC etc.
