How can I repair an aluminium cast petrol tank that has crack in the casting?

We would recommend using either Selleys Knead it Multipurpose or Selleys Knead it Steel epoxy putty. The repair compounds are resistant to petrol and diesel and suitable for repairs to metal and aluminium tanks. You might need to “V” out the crack so you can force the Knead It well into the repair.
