What is the best way to remove Selleys No More Gaps from carpet?

Selleys No More Gaps is very difficult to remove from carpet once it has cured.
Ideally when it makes contact you can clean it away with warm water before it dries.
Once cured the only way to remove from carpet is to try and gently tease and scrape the cured product out of the fibres, unfortunately there is no easy way to do this without potentially damaging the carpet.
