We recommend cutting away the old silicone using a sharp blade or knife.
Once it has been cut away, you can use Silicone Remover to remove the remaining silicone – apply to the remaining thin residual silicone and leave for at least 2 hours. The softened silicone can then be removed with a scraper.
Clean the area with methylated spirits and allow it to thoroughly dry.
You can then apply a new bead of sealant. Around a cooktop we would recommend using Selleys Wet Area sealant. It has excellent temperature resistance up to 150°C.
