You can use a neutral cure silicone such as Selleys 'Wet Area Silicone':http://www.selleys.co.nz/sealants/silicone/wet-area/ or 'Wet Area Speedseal':http://www.selleys.co.nz/sealants/silicone/speedseal/ for this Neutral cure silicones will not damage the mirror backing.
