Nothing looks worse in a bathroom than old, mouldy or discoloured silicone. Black spots of mould in the silicone sealant are unsightly and impossible to clean.

The good news is replacing silicone sealant is easy to do. And using the right sealant will help stop those mouldy spots coming back – here’s how!

What You Need

Easy as..

  1. Safely use a silicone removing blade to scrape away as much of the old silicone as possible (TIP: Don't forget to wear safety gloves)!
  2. Apply Selleys Silicone Remover evenly on the surface of the old silicone applying it about 5mm high
  3. Leave Selleys Silicone Remover for at least 2 hours, then use a scraper to remove all the softened silicone from the surface
  4. Clean the surface with methylated spirits
  5. Spray the area with Selleys Rapid Mould Killer to eradicate any residual mould & mildew
  6. Rinse the area with water and allow to dry completely
  7. Apply Selleys No Mould (read instructions on back of pack), ensuring sealant is pushed into the joint
  8. Tool sealant with a spatula dipped in detergent water within 5-10 minutes of application
  9. Clean up any residual excess silicone with turps before product skins

Handy Tips

  • Selleys No Mould will be shower ready in 1 hour after application.
  • Be careful not to touch semi cured sealant until fully cured (at least 48 hours)
  • To maintain your sealant properties, ensure you regularly clean off any soap scum and dirt as these encourage mould growth
